Freedom Rings, Let Us Sing!
The Scandia Elementary Third Graders, together with the Scandia Elementary Peace Team, will proudly present a program of songs and readings in honor of Memorial Day on Thursday, May 24th at 10:00 am. Our program will begin outside the school at our flagpole, and proceed to the gym for the remainder of the program. Families and community members are welcome to join us.
Scandia Elementary Mathletes put Scandia on the Map!
Nine students from Scandia Elementary participated in the 5th Grade Math Masters of Minnesota Challenge at Benjamin Mays Magnet School in St. Paul on April 27. This competition involves three parts: Fact Drill, Individual Problem Solving and Team Problem Solving. In the Fact Drill portion, Parker Lay placed fourth out of 161 participants. In the Individual Problem Solving portion, Rachel deSobrino placed second, Parker Lay placed fifth, and Jack Anderson placed 20th out of 161 participants. Finally, in the Team Solving portion, one team placed fifth, and one team placed seventh.
Thirty-four teams from across Minnesota participated in this meet. Congratulations to all team members: Erin O'Brien, Samantha Howell, Alexis Goeken, Rachel deSobrino, Brooke DeWall, Jack Anderson, Connor Tokie, Parker Lay, Matthew Strupp, Tristan Brunfelt and coach Katy Gross!
Student Council sponsors "Coins for Cancer"
The Scandia Elementary Student Council is collecting donations to help fight childhood cancer. During the weeks of May 14-25, students can bring donations and put them in our grade level donation container located at the main office. Students can also purchase buttons; $1.00 for a pre-made button or $2.00 for a custom designed button, outside the main office.
